Document aliases If your model is a part of a risk analysis project involving many different documents, it is handy to be able to open the associated documents without going to the “Finder”. If your version of the MacOS supports “drag and drop” from the “Finder, there is an easy way to include shortcuts for this in your model document by using “document aliases”. To include a document alias, in a model, simply drag the corresponding document icon from the “Finder” to the model window where you want it to appear. The resulting document alias will then appear with its familiar icon inside the DynRisk model file. You can then open the corresponding document with the appropriate application, by double-clicking the document alias, just as you do in the “Finder”. Be sure to keep the original document and its corresponding application available. Remember that the contents of the document are not stored inside the DynRisk model. Note that some document types are handled in a special way by DynRisk. If e.g., you drag a DynRisk model document into another model, this is equivalent to using the “Merge…” command in the “File” menu. Similarly, if you drag a “PICT” file into a model window, this will create a picture object. Finally, if you drag a “snd ” file into a model window, i.e., one containing a system sound resource, this will create a “Sound” object. In these special cases you can override the default action, and create a document alias instead, by pressing the “option” key while dragging the icon.
